Olivia Palermo has always been a style icon, and ever since news of her impending nuptials to Johannes Huebl broke out, speculations on who she will be wearing on her wedding day came to light.

And last weekend, the answer to the question was revealed: the beautiful bride wore an unconventional Carolina Herrera ensemble.

Her wedding dress, on the other hand, is not exactly a dress. It's more like a shorts-and-sweater thing. Not that she didn't rock it, but the bride wore a three-piece look that included a cashmere sweater littered with ostrich feathers, white shorts, and a tulle, satin, and silk overlay.

Yes, she wore sweater and shorts.

As for her shoes? It's the exact pair of Manolos that Carrie Bradshaw wore on the first "Sex and the City" movie when she wed Mr. Big. It's not based on the SATC character though. According to Vogue, it also happened to be Palermo's favorite, so why not wear it and have it as her essential "something blue" in the ensemble?

Her accessories included delicate stud earrings by Alexandra Mor, and a bracelet from one of her visits in Jodhpur, India.

Her make-up was light and understated, and her hair pulled back in her signature messy ponytail. She wrote on her blog, "I wanted the makeup to be light and fresh and more focused about the lashes while keeping the eyes clean. My hair was in an uncontrived Pony Tail, one of my favorite personal looks."

But what about the groom?

Johannes Huebl complemented Olivia's light and free style by wearing a white Marc Anthony Hamburg suit with matching piquet shirt, a Charvet tie in navy, as well as a navy Etro pocket square.

As for the guest list?

The couple made it an intimate event, with only a handful of family members celebrating with them in a quiet Bedford park in New York.

"We really wanted to keep this beautiful day very private and special to us and enjoyed the whole day with our family and two friends. Bedford is such an amazing and romantic countryside."

Of course, for fans who were disappointed by the very simple wedding and fashion, according to Vogue, the understated civil wedding is only the first part of more celebrations to come. A grander, bigger wedding may be in the works which will answer all the fashion, star guest list, and glittering desires of the fans.

How crazy are you about Olivia's wedding ensemble? What about Johannes's?
