Kushal Punjabi: It is my dream to work with Deepika Padukone

He came, he performed and he conquered. That was how Kushal Punjabi’s opening act in ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ can be best described. Kushal Punjabi, who is participating in the dance reality show as the wild card contestant, is very excited about performing in front of the esteemed jury of Madhuri Dixit, Remo D'Souza and Karan Johar. Though he has to compete with five other celebrities to claim his place on the glamorous show, he is prepared to set the stage on fire.In an exclusive tete-a-tete with TOI, he speaks about his expectations from Jhalak, his competitors and his future plan.
Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa is my favourite show: To be honest I love Jhalak and this is my favourite show. I have always enjoyed the level of performance here. Though I have participated in reality shows before, but getting a chance to participate in Jhalak is an overwhelming experience for me. It’s a prime time TV show on the weekend and has all the ingredients of a blockbuster. There is dance, a fair jury, glamour and a lot of entertainment. I will try my level best to impress the judges with my performance and hope to get selected.

Competition is very tough: The level of competition is very tough on Jhalak. I will be competing against five wild card contestants- Akriti Kakkar, Kainaat Arora, RJ Malishka, Rahul Vaidya, Tara Jean Popowich, and all seem very promising. However, I find Tara Jean Popowich as my biggest competitor. She is already a dancer and has won a couple of international shows. She is on a different level altogether. Talking about current contestants, I am very impressed by Shakti Mohan, Sreesanth, Mouni Roy and Ashish Sharma.
Jhalak: Live audition for Bollywood Participating in Jhalak opens many avenues for you. As Bollywood is looking for fresh talent, Jhalak gives a platform for talented people to show their potential and get a chance to pursue their Bollywood dreams. It is like you’re giving live auditions for a movie. Hence, it does not come as a surprise that celebs who have participated in Jhalak have bagged movie offers too. Yes, Jhalak can easily be called a ticket to Bollywood.

Would love to work with Aamir Khan I have already done a few Bollywood movies and have enjoyed my experience. However, now I am also getting into script writing. I have written the story of Parivar Times, which will be produced under Prakash Jha’s productions. I am playing one of the lead actors of the movie. Besides this, I am also working on my next script. It is my dream to work with Aamir Khan, Vidya Balan, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.
