GU begins MBE admission process
GUWAHATI: Admission process for the two-year post-graduation programme in business economics (MBE) of Gauhati University began a few days ago.
The course, which was introduced in GU about five years ago to provide a more comprehensive degree combining management, finance and economics, has been received well by students, said Munindra Kakati, professor of GU's business administration department.

"MBE is mainly for those who are aspiring to get jobs in the banking sector or become a finance analyst," said Kakati.
A notification issued by the university said students, having a bachelor's degree of the 10+2+3 pattern with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate or honours, can apply for admission on or before July 25.
"Those who have appeared in the final year of the bachelor's degree or any equivalent examination may also apply provided they meet the eligibility conditions prior to August 31," the notification said.
An official of the university said eligible applicants will have to sit for a written test on July 31 that will be conducted by the university to assess the quantitative aptitude, data interpretation, general awareness and proficiency in English.
Candidates qualifying the test will appear in group discussions and interview on August 1. The final selection will be made on candidates' overall performance.
However, candidates who have appeared in any one of the all India common entrance tests, including CAT, MAT, ATMA or XAT, after September 2013 for admission to MBA programmes and scored marks not less than 75 percentile have been exempted from appearing in the written test.
