First-time Dalit, Yadav voters for BJP to get role in field activities

Booth level committees of the party have been assigned with the task of identifying Dalit and Yadav community people who had cast their votes in BJP’s favour in Lok Sabha election. Committee members will approach these voters individually and request them to join the party as members. Even if the voter declines to do so, the party will remain in touch with them and will invite them to local party events. These men will also be given responsibilities in organisational activities.

BJP candidates won all the 17 reserved seats in Lok Sabha elections with huge margins due to support of Dalit votes.

“A list of such voters will be prepared at every booth, sector, mandal and district levels. These voters will be approached individually to join BJP. Emphasis will be on those who had not been BJP’s voters but supported the party in the Lok Sabha polls,” said Mukut Bihari Verma, BJP president of Awadh region that constitute eight districts.

During the executive committee meeting of the Kanpur region on Saturday, party directed the regional unit to associate such voters with BJP. “We will also identify the problems of these communities and will raise their issue for redressal with help of our MPs and MLAs,” said Balchandra Mishra, Kanpur region president.

To attract Dalit voters, BJP aggressively protested when Moradabad administration removed a loudspeaker from a temple in a village dominated by Jatav (Dalit) community recently. While BSP raised the issue first in UP Assembly, BJP leaders took the lead by announcing a mahapanchayat in Kanth courting arrests and fighting a pitched battle with police.
