Minister's private secretary found guilty of extortion
KISHANGANJ: A three-member inquiry team consisting DDC Sanjay Kumar, ADM Birendra Mishra and DRDA director Bharat Bhushan, in a joint report submitted to DM Animesh Kumar Parashar, has found former DM's private secretary (PS) Braj Kishor Sadanand and MGNREGA executive engineer Rajiv Ranjan guilty of extorting lakhs of rupees from MGNREGA engineers and others in the name of former CM Nitish Kumar's visit during the 2014 LS poll campaign.

At present, Sadanand is the private secretary to the Bihar sugarcane minister.
When the ripples of the alleged extortion surged through the corridors of power here, former DM Aditya Kumar Das promptly swung into action and ordered a probe into the alleged extortion of MNREGA engineers and others by his PS and the executive engineer.
The can of worms opened up and the alleged scam came into light following differences between the PS and the EE over sharing of the money, sources said.
In the meantime, Sadanand was transferred to Terhagachh block in the district. Ranjan, replying to a show-cause notice, has reportedly accepted his connivance and hand in the scam. He, however, put the blame squarely on the PS, sources said.
The probe team has called for disciplinary action against Sadanand and Ranjan.
DM Parashar, talking to reporters here, has confirmed the report and said necessary action is being contemplated against the errant officials.
