Vishal Bharadwaj composes music for Irrfan’s debut as a producer

He first established himself in the industry as a music director, but Vishal Bharadwaj has not composed a complete soundtrack outside of his production house since 2008. The last film he composed for was Ajay Devgn’s U, Me Aur Hum, although he did contribute a track or so for Haal-e-Dil and later, Striker. Ever since, Bharadwaj has focussed on composing for only his own productions, including Kaminey, Ishqiya, Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola and Ek Thi Dayan.

However, the filmmaker, who is busy in the post-production of his next, Haider, will soon make a comeback as a composer for Irrfan’s debut film as a producer. Currently untitled, the film has Irrfan in the lead and has been directed by Nishikant Kamat. “Vishal and Irrfan have been friends and collaborators for a long time. For his debut production, the actor wanted Vishal to compose the music and the latter obliged,” says Kamat. Irrfan, who has acted in Bharadwaj’s Maqbool and 7 Khoon Maaf, will also be seen in Haider.

The yet-untitled film is the story of a man who is revolting against the system, and his relationship with his eight-year-old son. It has been shot across several states, including Himachal Pradesh and Delhi. Bharadwaj, who has been working on the music for the film for some time now, has composed six tracks for it. The film is likely to release by the end of this year.
