The Railway police arrested a man from aboard the Netravati Express train on charge of stealing a bag of gold on Wednesday evening. Kantilal, a native of Maharashtra, allegedly tried to steal a bag of gold that was being transported by two employees of a jewellery store. The two men were carrying the gold in a bag from Thrissur to Kollam. Just before the train reached Ernakulam Junction railway station, one of the men went to the toilet. Kantilal allegedly snatched the bag from the other person and tried to run out of the train.

He was apprehended by other passengers and the police just as the trained pulled in to the station. The bag reportedly contained gold worth about Rs.78 lakh.
