NASHIK: State minister for revenue Balasaheb Thorat on Saturday handed over the land for the Pune university’s sub-centre at Shivnai in Dindori to the officiating vice-chancellor, V B Gaikwad.
In March, 2013 Rs 5.50 crore was sanctioned for the sub-centre by the Pune University. A year after the measurement of the land, which was done on June 18, 2013, the university received a 7/12 extract of the 62.5 acre land.
The land was to be received in June 2013. Last month, the university advisory committee had met with the district collector Vilas Patil for this.
Gaikwad, the director, Board of College and University Development (BCYD) and officiating vice-chancellor, said, “The minister handed over the letter of the land transfer to the university. From next month, we can proceed with the construction of the independent sub-centre. Since the last three years, we have been trying to set it up. It will take us close to two years to complete the construction.”
College principals, advisory council members, additional district collector B H Palve and others were present, when the letter was handed over by Thorat at the revenue commissioner’s office at Nashik Road.
