I am lost without my son: mother
NATHAM COLONY: E Krishnaveni, mother of Ilavarasan, is still struggling to deal with the loss of her son, a year after his body was found near a railway track under mysterious circumstances. "The loss of a house or precious jewels could be replaced but my son is gone forever," she said on Friday, as she paid tribute to Ilavarasan at his cemetery in Natham colony.

She is unable to move on, she said, after his death. "He used to tell me that he would take good care of us after he became a police officer. But he has abandoned me," Krishnaveni said. Ilavarasan's father T Elango who is a record clerk in Dharmapuri Government Medical College Hospital, was transferred to the college administration office a few months ago. "My husband had taken a lot of leave during our son's death. Now his superiors at work are shuttling him from department to department. He is worried about his job," she added.
It has also been very difficult for them to rent a house as no one is willing to have them as tenants. Thus they have been stuck in the same house which triggers several bad memories.
Krishnaveni also alleged that residents of Natham colony have been avoiding her ever since six people were arrested for alleged naxal links. "They have been blaming us for the arrests. They say that only because we wanted to pay tribute to our son, innocent people were arrested," she added.
Meanwhile, Divya has been trying to pick up the pieces after Ilavarasan's death. She received counselling to help her deal with the stress. "She returned to her nursing course. She cycles to her college in the morning and returns home in the evening," said P Amsaveni, a woman from Sellankottai. Divya's mother Thenmozhi got job in the cooperative society bank in Krishnapuram where her husband Nagarajan worked as a cashier. "She got the job under compassionate grounds and has been working there since October 1 last year," said another woman who wished to remain anonymous.
