Kher seeks stay on warrant issued by Ludhiana court

The complaint has been filed under the provisions of sections 295 A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 298 (offences relating to religion) of the Indian Penal Code. Sony music, Kher said in his petition, released his song in 2007. Kher said it was “purely a song” and not intended to hurt religious sentiments.

Kher said that the complaint was filed against him to get “cheap publicity” in the media for “having prosecuted a known person”.The singer, as a result, sought a stay on the execution of warrant and quashing of the complaint made against him in Ludhiana.

Makkar, in his complaint said, “In this song, Kher is singing the song of Shiv Shankar with girls wearing short clothes. In this song both are also kissing each other and vulgarity is shown.”
