Woman kidnapped; people protest alleging police connivance

MENDHAR, July 3: A young married woman was kidnapped late last night from her residence at Simkan in Mankote following which her family members and villagers today held a protest against the local police for shielding the accused.
According to the reports, Rubina Koser wife of Mohd Jahangir and resident of Simkan (Mankote) was kidnapped last night from her residence at Simkan.
Accusing the police of abetting the kidnapper and shielding him, the family members of the victim along with other villagers today staged a strong protest against the police, who later cane charged to disperse them. Later, SHO Police Station, Mendhar, Kuldeep Raj visited the spot and assured the family members of recovering the woman within two days.
The family members charged one Mohd Fareed son of Faqir Hussain resident of Simkan (Mankote) with kidnapping of Rubina and demanded police to arrest him. They said, “Rubina was earlier also kidnapped by Mohd Fareed on June 6, 2014 and was recovered by police just 10 days before. A case FIR No 85 under Section 376, 382, 341 RPC has been registered in Police Station Mendhar”.
Later, a deputation of villagers also met Deputy Chairman, J&K Legislative Council, Javed Rana in this regard, who condemned the cane charged by police. He assured the deputation to take up the matter with SP, Poonch for early redressal.
