Dera follower shot at in Bathinda, police clueless
BATHINDA: A follower of Sirsa-based sect Dera Sacha Sauda was shot at by two assailants on motorcycle on Wednesday in Bathinda town. Even after many hours of the attack, police have not been able to trace the attackers who fired at Krishan Kumar. Around two years ago, he was attacked by some unknown persons.
Krishan was on his way home after closing his shop around 9pm on Wednesday with his servant Sanjeev Kumar when two unidentified persons arrived on a motorcycle and fired at him, and fled from the spot.
The bullet hit him in the back. Krishan was first taken to Bathinda civil hospital and later, he was shifted to a private hospital in Ludhiana where his condition is stated to be out of danger.
In the wake of the firing incident, police have intensified security in Bathinda. Meanwhile, dera followers are angry over police failing to identify persons who attacked Krishan. "Police have miserably failed in identifying the culprits even after many hours of the crime. We want police to act fast or the followers will be forced to protest," said dera follower Ram Singh.
Bathinda superintendent of police (detective) Swaran Singh Khanna said, "Efforts are being made to arrest those responsible for the attack on the dera follower. A case of attempt to murder charges and under Arms Act has been registered against unknown persons."
