S S Rajamouli's upcoming magnum opus, Baahubali, starring Prabhas, Rana, Anushka and Tamannaah, has reportedly set a new record in terms of pre-release business, as per the latest buzz in the industry. Rumours are abuzz that a prominent distributor has paid a whopping sum of Rs 23 crores to bag the rights for the first part of Baahubali alone for Karnataka and Ceded (Rayalaseema) regions.
A source close to the production house claims that for Ceded alone, the film's first part's distribution rights were sold for Rs 13 crores, which is mind-boggling to say the least.
The first part of Baahubali is expected to hit the screens in April, 2015 and going by the buzz the film has been generating, it wouldn't be surprising if it smashes every existing record in Telugu film industry. Senthil is the cinematographer and M M Keeravani is scoring the music. The budget of the film, which will release in two parts in multiple languages, will reportedly exceed Rs 175 crores, which has stunned almost everyone. It remains to be seen if the makers can make the best of the opportunity and set the cash registers ringing.
