ALLAHABAD: Mayor Abhilasha Gupta along with senior corporators on Wednesday inspected Buxi Bandh and sewage treatment plant, located on the banks of Ganga.
After inspecting the site, Gupta said, "To ensure the safety of Buxi Bandh STP, a whopping amount Rs 1,240 lakh was being spent for the repair of damaged bandh. She, however, admitted that the work was in slow pace but claimed that she had asked engineers to ensure that outside wall of the bandh should be repaired while the repair of the inner wall would be done later.
On the occasion, corprorator Vinay Mishra said that sand should be brought from Phaphama for the repair work as per the norms of tender. He claimed that the sand used for the repair work was brought just two km away from the repair site which was against the norms. tnn
Mayor also expressed her concern after witnessing Buxi bandh STP dysfunctional and the nullah water was being drained directly in Ganga river. She instructed the authorities concerned to take corrective measures without any delay.
Mayor also inspected pumping station which was set up in year 1980. Employees at the pumping station told mayor that all the pumps set up in that year are being run after a series of repair works. These pumps have no adequate potential to cater the need of increasing population. There are four diesel and two electric pumps and two out of three pumps are functional in pump house.
Mayor claimed that a Rs 6.5 crore proposal for setting up three pumps of 30 cusec each and three pumps of 5 cusec each has already been sent to state government for approval at the pumping station but the state authorities have till date not released any funds.
