8-year-old raped in Tripura

An eight-year-old girl of Uttar Radhapur village in Dharmanagar is fighting for life at Rajib Gandhi Memorial District Hospital in Kailashahar for the last two days after allegedly being raped by neighbour Suman Das (23) on Monday and Tuesday.

KUMARGHAT (North Tripura): An eight-year-old girl of Uttar Radhapur village in Dharmanagar is fighting for life at Rajib Gandhi Memorial District Hospital in Kailashahar for the last two days after allegedly being raped by neighbour Suman Das (23) on Monday and Tuesday. Police have arrested Das.
"Apart from Section 376 of the IPC, we have booked Das under the newly-passed Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act, 2012.
He was remanded in police custody on Wednesday," SP (North Tripura) Abhijit Saptarshi said.
According to Saptarshi, the victim's family lodged a missing complaint after the girl, a second-standard student, went missing on Monday.
Her relatives initially suspected she had gone out with her father, who is separated from the family. On Tuesday morning, the girl returned home with blood stains on her body.
She told her mother about being attacked by an unknown man.
He added the victim gave a description of Suman which was used to nab him.
