DYNAMOS goalkeepers’ coach Tichaona Diya has challenged Artwell Mukandi to grab the opportunity to establish himself at the Harare giants after giving a good account since taking over from George Chigova.
Mukandi has so far started three games since the departure of Chigova for South Africa’s Supersport United last month and conceded only one goal.

The Harare giants will host Black Rhinos at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday and Diya yesterday said Mukandi has the same qualities to make a good goalkeeper just like Chigova and Washington Arubi who are now based in South Africa.

Chigova left two weeks ago and Dynamos are now searching for a back-up for Mukandi and the youthful Tatenda Mukuruva.

“We have made it clear that Artwell is now the first choice goalkeeper with Tatenda coming in as the deputy. So the goalkeeper we are looking for should be back-up for these two.

“He is not someone who will be coming in to compete directly with these two. Right now it’s time for Artwell, this is his chance to shine.

“He has done well so far and there is a lot of improvement in terms of command, ball distribution and hopefully he will keep getting better the more he plays. He is really working hard but Rome was not built in a day,” said Diya.

Dynamos resumed their preparations yesterday without coach Callisto Pasuwa who is currently attending a Caf A Licence coaching course.
