NEW DELHI: With three more cases of dengue confirmed this week, the total number of cases in the capital has gone up to 12 this year. In light of the approaching monsoon, municipal officials have alerted hospitals and have increased their own anti-mosquito drive.
Among the three new cases, a 28-year-old man, a resident of Ashok Nagar, was tested positive for dengue at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital.
A 25-year-old woman from Rohini and a 27-year-old woman from Bhajanpura were also confirmed to have the virus at Sucheta Kriplani Hospital.
This year’s dengue cases have already overtaken the confirmed cases in the same period for the past three years. Against 12 cases this year, nine of whom are residents of Delhi while the other three are from neighbouring states receiving treatment in Delhi, 2013 reported nine confirmed dengue cases while 2012 and 2011 reported five each.
