Spain’s Ad Hoc Motorcycles is nothing like the usual bike customizer you’d expect. Daring ideas and even bolder approaches to getting things done are the specialty for the house of David Gonzalez, and this striking Ducati Multistrada is so much more than a business card: it is also a statement that the limits of creativity are still unfathomable.
While the 2004 Ducati Multistrada 1000 DS is a nice machine, it kind of lacks any dash of “spectacular” and head-turning factor, so it is fairly easy to see its owner looking forward to change it in a radical way. While his initial idea was to fit a Hypermotard tank on the Multistrada, it turned out that the result looked only a tad better than dirt, so David went on to find another solution for the problem.

He set off to create the intriguing fuel tank from clay and using its shaped to determine the final attire of the Haptica. The final product had to look clean and tidy, so he opted for placing the fuel pump inside the tank, and free up the underseat clutter. The airbox was also ditched, replaced by open filters, while the battery was relocated, and the wiring simplified, as well.

The iconic Ducati trellis received a custom matching rear subframe to which the solo seat and the minimalist rear fender were attached. However, Gonzales knew that at times, two might want to ride the Haptica, and made sure a dual seat could be effortlessly installed. The firm, pleasantly-edgy lines of this Ducati are neatly complemented by the rectangular headlight with a generous Plexiglas bezel, while in the rear, a thin LED strip embedded in the rear fender for an eve neater, minimalist attire.

Easton bars replaced the standard ones, with the exhausts shortened for a meaner look. Michelin Anakee 3 (slightly) dual-sport rubber now shoes the cast wheels. Not much of a touring bike was left from the original Multistrada 1000 DS but the gain in the “cool”, “jawdropping” and the “wow!” sectors is huge.
