Wife forgives man but court still penalises him

    KOTA BARU: The Magistrate's Court here today acquitted a self employed man of voluntarily causing hurt to his wife after the victim decided to forgive him for the action.
    However, Magistrate Nik Habri Muhamad ordered Mohd Zailani Kari, 30, to pay a RM100 compound to Aaina Azura Rosli, 30, for the offence committed at their house in Kampung Alor Mas here at 7am on May 25.
    The court also did not allow him to escape the second charge of intimidating the victim at the same place, date and time.
    Mohd Zailani was fined RM1,000 and further ordered to pay his wife a compensation of RM2,000, failing which he would land in jail for eight months. He settled all the penalties in Nik Habri's presence.
    Meanwhile, Aaina Azura said when met by reporters outside the court, that she forgave her husband for the sake of their children.
    "We have been married for 10 years and have six children aged between four months and 10 years," she said.
    Mohd Zailani was unrepresented while ASP Saiful Nizam Mislah conducted the prosecution. – Bernama
