BHOPAL: With arrest of three looters, police claims to have busted the gang which looted Rs 2.5 lakh from a cement trader after injuring him in Bairagarh on May 8.
The accused, during interrogation, reportedly confessed to their role in other crimes, including loots that took place in past few months in Mandideep, Sanchi and Sukhi Sewania.
Around Rs 1.23 lakh cash, mobile sets and a bike, which they allegedly bought with looted money, have been seized from their possession.
Five members of the gang are on the run.
SP (North) Arvind Saxena said arrested accused have been taken on a police remand to ascertain their involvement in more cases of loots and robberies and make recovery of cash and goods from them, he added.
The three accused, Babu, 34, Antu, 25 and Pinku, 25, who were arrested from Raisen district, are members of a criminal tribe of Jhabua.
The accused are habitual offender and have committed robberies in Maharashtra and Gujarat apart from MP, police added. Gang members, which are on the run include, Shatru, 45, Alam, 30, Jhitara, 40, Chatru and Bhura.
In Bairagarh, they have injured Sanjay Bharvani and Vinod while looting the cash from them. Police said teams are on the job to nab the accused.
