Kerala Govt. project to market agricultural produce

Mohanan inaugurates Kera Samridhi Project at Mannuthy

The government is preparing a project to market agriculture produce by collecting it from farmers through Krishi Bhavans, Agriculture Minister K.P. Mohanan has said.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Kera Samridhi Project at Mannuthy, near here, on Saturday.

“Kerala will turn into total organic farming by 2016. Special incentives will be given to farmers,” he said.

The government will take the initiative to clear hurdles to produce and market neera.

“We are committed to bring back the golden days of farming in the State by using State and Central financial assistance,” the Minister said.

He inaugurated the Kera Samriddhi Project by distributing dwarf variety of coconut saplings.

The Minister handed over awards to farmers, clusters, education institutions and offices, which performed well in vegetable farming.

M.P. Vincent, MLA, released a book “101 Karshaka Vijaya Kadhakal” (101 stories of successful farming).

Best Cluster: Green Valley Vegetable Cluster, Arthat Krishi Bhavan; Best School: V.V.S.H.S. Mannuthy; Best farmer: Balaji Alias Bala Govindan, Mullath Pallissery House, Korattikkara (Kadavallur Krishi Bhavan); Best Student: Sreehari Suresh, Government H.S.S. Kadavallur; Best Headmaster: K. Chameli Menon, V.V.S.H.S. Mannuthy & C.V. Anitha, S.N.B.H.S.S., Kanimangalam; Best Public Institution: Vani Vilasam U.P.S. Venkidangu; Best Agriculture Assistant Director: A. Emilitty, Mullassery Block; Best Agriculture Officer: A.J. Vivency, Venkidangu Krishi Bhavan; Best Agriculture Assistant: P. Umadevei, Chelakkara Krishibhavan.
