MUMBAI: Like every year, admission to first year junior college (FYJC) is going to be a tight race this time too as more than 1.98 lakh students will vie for a little over 1.91 lakh seats in the metropolitan region.
By end of Friday, the last day to fill online forms, 1,98,623 students had registered for the process.
Colleges also submitted their surplus in-house, minority and management quota seats on Friday, adding over 31,000 seats to the 1.6 lakh seats till then.
Now, there are 1,91,559 seats for the online admissions.
Several colleges had filled up the quotas in the offline process and did not have seats to hand over for the online admission; the situation was seen at St Andrews’ College, St Xaviers’ College and HR College.
Education officials said students need not worry about securing a seat.
“Students usually secure a seat through the quotas and also apply for the online process for a better option,” an official said. “There are enough seats and making the right choices will ensure college admission.”
