Congressmen clash with cops, protest against PEB scam

There was high drama during the protest of Youth Congress against MPPEB scam at Banganga on Friday as the protestors tried to scale the barricades and clashed with police in a bid to make their way to chief minister’s house.

BHOPAL: There was high drama during the protest of Youth Congress against MPPEB scam at Banganga on Friday as the protestors tried to scale the barricades and clashed with police in a bid to make their way to chief minister’s house. Police had to resort to use of force and water cannon to prevent the protestors who were demanding resignation of chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Leader of opposition in MP Assembly Satyadev Katare was injured when he slipped down due to force of water cannon while trying to scale the barricades. He received injuries on his back and was rushed to JP hospital where he has been admitted to the ICU.
Several other state Congress leaders were also injured as they clashed with police.
Congressmen took off their shirts while heading towards the CM house from Roshanpura square to demand Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s resignation.
With a choked throat, Katare told media persons at the hospital, the scam has played with career of lakhs of deserving students. He called upon students to come forward and protest against the scam. He demanded that in wake of the MPPEB scam and allegations involving his family, chief minister should resign and face investigation. In case he gets a clean chit after a probe, he can again become CM, Katare added.
Congress leaders Jitu Patwari, PC Sharma, Kunal Choudhary, Monu Saxena were also present in the protest. Meanwhile, the police said of registering cases against the Congress party workers. About 300 Congress workers were arrested and they were later released in the evening.
