MYSORE: Chamarajanagar police are trawling through phone call records of junior engineer, who set himself ablaze, alleging harassment.
Police, who have picked up two accused -- Vairamanikya, an employee of Chamarajanagar ZP, and Sardar, former president of Kurahatti Hosur GP -- questioned them and produced them before a court in Chamarajanagar. Following a petition by the police, the local court handed them over to the police custody.
"We have got their custody for two days, and we shall interrogate them about the charges of harassment to clear the files," Chamarajanagar SP Rajendra Prasad told TOI. He said that they are scanning the call records of the deceased engineer Suresh.
There were charges that Suresh was pushed to commit suicide after he got a call on his cellphone on Monday. The police are verifying the recent calls received by the upright engineer who was tasked to supervise national rural employment guarantee scheme in five villages, including Kurahatti Hosur in Kollegal taluk.
The SP said that the villagers in the area were afraid to speak to ZP officials and police. Police said that the third accused, Saroj, is still at large.
