Two cops die chasing bootleggers

Two young police constables died and two others were seriously injured when their police jeep overturned while chasing bootleggers near Kariyana village in Botad district on Wednesday evening.

RAJKOT: Two young police constables died and two others were seriously injured when their police jeep overturned while chasing bootleggers near Kariyana village in Botad district on Wednesday evening.
Constables Rajesh Meniya (28) and Ashwin Solanki (36) were from the Local Crime Branch of Botad. Meniya died on the spot, while Solanki succumbed at a private hospital in Bhavnagar at night.
Police had received a tip-off that some bootleggers were carrying liquor in a Tavera car near Botad. They started following the car near Botad, but their vehicle overturned on Lathidad-Kariyani Road.
The injured police constables Yuvrajsinh Zhala and Mahavirsinh Gohil have been admitted to a private hospital in Bhavnagar.
Sources said Botad police managed to nabbed the bootleggers from Barvala.
