GUWAHATI: In a major boost to the state's rural development schemes, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has decided to allocate Rs 600 crore for the state in the current fiscal under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF).
Chief general manager of NABARD posted in the organization's head office in Mumbai, R Amalorpavanathan, on Thursday said the bank's total refinance operations in the northeast was Rs 387.38 crore during 2013-14.
The long-term refinance disbursed by Nabard in the NE region stood at Rs 171.71 crore during 2013-14. Disbursement made to Assam was the highest in NE at Rs 108.32 crore.
Chief general manager of NABARD state regional office here Arun Sandilya said the cumulative sanctions under all tranches in the northeast under (RIDF) stood at Rs 7,983.32 crore for 3,185 agro projects, irrigation, power, roads, bridges, and social sector projects till March 31, 2014.
Sandilya said 1,112 agro projects have been sanctioned in Manipur at a cost of Rs 118.74 crore, 2,091 projects in Assam (Rs 2,945.55 crore), 38 power projects in Tripura (Rs 4.2 crore), 353 road projects in Meghalaya (Rs 232.33 crore) and 1,511 projects under social sector in Manipur (Rs176.33 crore).
He added that two innovative projects were sanctioned under RIDF in Mizoram - rubber nursery with an assistance of Rs 2.37 crore and slaughter houses at Aizawl, Champhai, Lunglei, Serchip and Aizawl West with an assistance of Rs17.87 crore.
