DGP forms five teams for safety in Telangana

The teams comprises police officials and ASCI experts to decide on various issues

Hyderabad: Stating that the ISB is working with the Telangana government, its director (Marketing and Communications) Sriram Gopalakrishnan said, “The Telangana government has sought assistance for setting up an incubator in order to promote entrepreneurship which brings together intellectual capital of institutions like ISB and IIIT. The details are being worked out.”

The Telangana government has also reached an understanding with the Indian Institute of Information Technology for helping entrepreneurs and start-ups. ISB will be associated with marketing and branding of these start-ups.

Telangana Director General of Police Anurag Sharma has formed five teams comprising police officials and ASCI experts to decide on various issues pertaining to safe city policing.

Professor V. Srinivas Chary of ASCI said, “Basically the purpose of the initiative is to promote a safe city. There are four to five components like surveillance with effective GPS-enabled patrolling and quick response like in Delhi. Also, CCTV cameras linked to traffic system for easy traffic management, women’s safety, central command and control and citizen friendly policing that includes branding with a new dress and logo.”

He added, “The government of Telangana has taken this initiative and they have asked for our support for conceptualising it. If the government comes forward, we are open to working with AP too.”

The problem with AP is that its capital city is yet to be identified and no project can be taken up without it, said sources.

AP DGP, Mr J.V. Ramudu held a meeting on Thursday and sought details for building a police headquarter in the new capital.

A source in the Naidu camp said, “We are already in touch with several Singapore, United States-based consultants for designing the new capital. We will also take the help of national institutions depending on the need.”
