The hollowness behind the pre-poll promises of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will be exposed soon if his Government fails to implement the loan waiver scheme and give jobs to youth, YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy said on Thursday.
YSRC would have gained power had he made a false promise to waive loans of all farmers, the Opposition leader said while addressing the party corporators in Kadapa, his first visit to the district after the elections.
People would be vexed with a Chief Minister within two years if he fails to ensure proper governance and fulfil his promises and implement welfare schemes, he said, and added that Mr. Naidu is leaving people discontented within a month of assuming charge.
Becoming Chief Minister by making dubious promises is not difficult, but people would rout the party after a period of five years, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy remarked. YSRC is committed to credibility and values, he asserted. On the other hand, the ruling party is as luring ZPTC and MPTC members of other parties, he alleged.
The Pulivendula MLA told corporators that people are the real Opposition and not public representatives who defect for petty gains. People will stage a banner of revolt when they realise the hollowness and dubious tactics of the ruling party, he said. He urged partymen to be united despite problems such as pressures and police cases.
Advising party functionaries to gear up for agitations whenever the situation warrants, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy exuded confidence that the party would gain power with an overwhelming victory in about 160 Assembly seats in future.
He exhorted the party corporators to support the party nominee for Kadapa mayorship Kothamaddi Suresh Babu. Caste and religious considerations were taken into account in deciding the party’s deputy mayor candidate and in other posts, he added. YSRC MLAs P. Raveendranatha Reddy and S.B. Amzath Basha, Mr. K. Suresh Babu and party leaders, activists and corporators participated.
Earlier, Mr. Jaganmohan visited Badvel and interacted with party leaders and activists.
