MANGALORE: Customs officers at Mangalore International Airport in Kenjar here on Thursday seized foreign currency amounting to 18,000 Dirhams and 19,000 Saudi Riyals in two separate cases possessed illegally by two passengers and concealed inside their hand bags.
The passengers identified are Muhammedaly Abdulla Rahiman, and Abdulla Kundor, both hailing from Kasargod. Both were intercepted by the customs officers at the time of their departure to Sharjah by Jet airways Flight 9W532 on Wednesday and Air India Express Flight IX 823 on Thursday, respectively.

The above operation was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Mangalore International Airport Pravin Vinod, along with the team consisting of Superintendents Marcus Pereira, R S Venkataram, R G Gaonkar, S K Nelli and Inspector Prashant Tiwari, K Nirmala, S R Behara, Ankit Kumar and Havaldar Gopal. Further investigation is under progress, under the guidance of the commissioner of Customs Mangalore, D Purushotham.
