Exiles Ferretti    22     Otters Nivea     6

(6-4, 6-0, 6-0, 4-2)

Exiles brushed aside the Gozitans with ease, as they made their way into the Premier Division. Otters provided decent opposition to Exiles in the opening session of play, but they then collapsed, sufferind a dozen goals in the next two periods , before having Andrei Edward to pick up their scoring touch once more.

Exiles had no less than ten players on the score sheet, as they pierced the Gozitans’ defence at will, but the first session was a different affair, with Otters keeping in touch, and promising much, but this all fizzled out, and Exiles ran riot as their score mounted, with no reply from the Otters’ end.

Luca Sekulic and Peter Borg both grabbed a poker of goals, and Kurt Grixti netted three more, for Exiles, with Andrei Edward scoring twice for the Gozitans.

Otters’ consolation is that they will take three points with them into the 1st Division. Exiles will start with no points in the Premier League.

(1-4, 3-2, 2-3, 2-4)

San Giljan scored four times, after conceding the opening goal, but Sirens then more than held their own in the next two sessions, to keep in touch with their opponents. In the last quarter the saints then netted three times in succession, to make the issue safe, with Sirens drawing fractionally nearer till the end of the match.

The saints held off their adversaries till the interval, when Sirens had gone near, on a 4-6 score, and at the start of teh third period San Giljan lost Paul Fava, ejected from the game, as Sirens went to within a goal, at 5-6. The Saints restored their advantage till the end of the session, on a 9-6 score, and three more strikes in the last session put paid to Sirens’ hopes.
