York County YWCA removes CEO, searching for new leader [The York Dispatch, Pa. :: ](York Dispatch, The (PA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) June 25--YWCA York is looking for a new CEO. The nonprofit organization's board of directors made the decision to remove Roberta Geidner as CEO last Friday, said board president John Klinedinst. After about one year at the position, Geidner stepped down the same day, he said. "It was just a necessary change in leadership," Klinedinst said. The YWCA has begun its search for a new leader and is expecting to conclude its search "fairly quickly," he said. Rick Azzaro, chief services officer, has stepped in as interim CEO. New beginning: No particular event precipitated the decision; it was "just a growing feeling on the part of the board," Klinedinst said. Geidner was instrumental in initiating the strategic planning process -- and had good input -- but the board felt it was necessary to have a different style of leadership, he said. "We have to finish the strategic planning, but we also need to re-establish the YWCA in the York community," he said. The organization provides great services and programs, including ACCESS-York, a state-leading domestic violence program, he said. "We need to reach out to the community and make those programs sustainable," he said. Geidner, a Maryland transplant with more than 20 years of senior management experience of nonprofits, replaced former CEO Deb Stock, who retired last year after 13 years at her post. Klinedinst said the board isn't searching for any hard-and-fast personality traits, but someone from the York area with established contacts and ties to the community would be a good candidate. 'Positive energy': All YWCA programs are continuing with no gaps in service, Klinedinst said. No part of the transition will compromise the high-quality care the YWCA's clientele receives, Azzaro said. "It's an exciting time for the organization, and I would love for the community to know that, too," he said.
