TIRUNELVELI: A woman who married her lover without her family's consent was forcibly taken away by her relatives while she was travelling with her husband in a bus near Nanguneri, about 35 km from here, police said.
A kidnap case was registered on Tursday against the parents of the woman and a woman sub-inspector of police, who was suspected to have tipped-off the family about the couple's whereabouts, they said.

The SI was also allegedly travelling in the same bus, police said.
The case was registered based on a complaint from the woman's husband Sankar that his in-laws intercepted the bus and whisked away his wife on Monday evening.
The incident occurred when the couple, who got married recently, were returning to Suseendram in Kanyakumari district after attending a hearing in connection with the habeas corpus petition filed by the woman's father in the Madurai bench of the Madras high court.
The petitioner had alleged that his daughter was being kept in illegal custody and sought a direction to police to produce her in the court and set her at liberty. agencies
