Fifa World Cup Brazil 2014: Sri Lankan fan from Dubai recounts experience

A Sri Lanka football fan based in Dubai Farook Kassim enjoyed the amazing experience of the Fifa World Cup top-table Group B clash between the Netherlands and Chile at Corinthians Arena, in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Monday night.

"The game was fabulous. It had attendance of 62,996 people from all over the world, including Sri Lanka," said Kassim, who is Chairman of the Sri Lanka Business Council - Dubai.

"Many thanks to Citibank Dubai - Visa card. My wife and I and two other couples were invited from Dubai for the most exciting match Netherlands vs Chile," he said.

"We were very well looked after by the Visa team on the ground here in São Paulo, picking us from the airport and all finer details taken care of," he said.

"São Paulo has some thing common with Sri Lanka, it's population is 20 million. It's the biggest city in South America, and known as the global city of the land of soccer," said Kassim, a sports enthusiast.

"São Paulo is a dynamic, cosmopolitan and diverse city, it pleases everybody. The countless entertainment options supply the needs of the most different styles. Multicultural avant-garde and multifaceted, the city pulsates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year due the energetic residents and demanding visitors who move the capital of the State," he added.
 
A header with his first touch from Leroy Fer and a late Memphis Depay goal, secured the Netherlands a 2-0 win over Chile that sends them through to the Round of 16 as Group B winners.
 
Louis van Gaal's side will now face the Group A runners-up Mexico.
