2 teenagers drown in Hazaribag

HAZARIBAG: Two teenagers drowned in the Gonda dam in Hazaribag's Katkumdag block while they were bathing late on Sunday evening, police said on Monday.
The duo, both students of Class X and residents of Shivpuri, were identified as Vishesh Kumar and Sashank Shekhar. Their bodies were fished out of the water after two hours of search operation by residents of Gonda, a village near the dam.
Police said Vishesh jumped into the dam unaware of the dpth of the water. He lost control and shouted for help. Sashank, who was also in the water by the time, tried to give his hand to his friend. But he too could not stay afloat and tried to raise alarm. When the locals came for help, it was too late.
Visesh was a students of Saraswati Sishu Vidya mandir in Kumhartoli and Sashank, son a bank employee, was a in DAV Public School.
Police said the bodies of the two teenagers have been sent for postmortem.
Three villagers of the locality after two hours efforts took out both the victims from the water but by that time both were found to be dead. The Pelawal police by that time reached the spot and took the bodies to hazaribag Sadar Hospital where the doctors declared them dead. Later their bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.
