BHOPAL: A man was allegedly thrashed by villagers in Morena district on Monday for passing on information about mining mafia to the police.
The incident took place at Nepri bridge under Kilara police station of the district. Police said Shailendra Sikarwar was thrashed by people of his village over some dispute.
"He has alleged that he was beaten up by villagers because he passed on information about illegal sand mining to police.
However, the matter is under investigation," additional superintendent of police, Morena Raghuvansh Singh told TOI.
He added Sikarwar was beaten by sticks which led to injuries in his limbs and he has been admitted to hospital.
