Upset over friend's death, girl kills self

THENI: A Plus Two student committed suicide on Monday by hanging allegedly upset over the death of her friend who had also committed suicide a few days ago in Theni district. The victim has been identified as Madhumitha, 17, daughter of one Selvamani.
According to police, Madhumitha's best friend Lavanya, 17, daughter of one Easwaran of Kombai Road near Cumbum in Theni district was studying Plus Two at the Kallar Higher Secondary School.For a very long time the two had been inseparable buddies, police said.
It is said that Lavanya had been upset over the frequent quarrels between her mother and father and used to share it to Madhumitha. A few days back, a fight between her parents forced the girl to take the extreme step and hang herself from the roof of her home. Since then, Madhumitha had been forlorn and refused to eat. On Monday, she too took a similar step and hung herself in her house when her parents were away. Cumbum North police have registered a case and are investigating.
