The commander of Reserve Forces, Maj. Gen. Levi Karuhanga who was also the first Commander of AMISON in Somalia has been appointed the new chairman for the General court martial that sits at Makindye, Kampala.

Mr Karuhanga was appointed by President Museveni to chair the court following the expiration of Brig Moses Ddiba Ssentongo’s one year tenure.
He commanded the AMISON from February 14, 2007 when he was appointed to March 3, 2008 when he was recalled and succeeded by Maj. General Francis Okello.

In 2005 Maj. Gen. Karuhanga was posted to Division Headquarters Command, Kakiri as Divisional Commander before he was appointed and sent to Somalaia in 2007 as AU Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) commander. In 2010, he was appointed Reserve Forces Commander, a position he has held to late.

Early this month, the trials of cases before the General Court Martial (GCM) at Makindye were suspended following the end of Brig. Ddiba’s tenure. But with the new appointment, business will now resume the military court.
