CHANDIGARH: A deadly cocktail of fast cars, reckless driving and booze was proving lethal for residents on the city roads. As many as 15 persons, including some children, were killed in 13 road accidents involving drunken driving in the city in the last three years.
Harman Sidhu, who runs a road safety NGO ArriveSafe in the city, said, "Liquor and overspeeding were the reasons behind a majority of road accidents in the city, especially during late night hours.
Residents, whose children are involved in such mishaps, are also responsible."
One month before 18-year old Aditya Singla was killed after a car he was travelling in rammed into a tree following a tyre burst in the wee hours of Saturday, Kulraj Singh, a driver of a former SSP of Punjab Police rammed his car into a couple. He was allegedly drunk.
