NTR-Sukumar flick on the backburner
Tollywood producer BVSN Prasad had made a grand announcement of his next project with Jr NTR to be directed by Sukumar earlier in January. However, six months later, the project has not moved an inch, leading to speculations about the project’s viability. Meanwhile, Jr NTR has signed his next project with hit film-maker Puri Jagannadh . So, will the project take off? If our Tollywood sources are to be believed, the project has been pushed to year-end.
“The project was announced when Sukumar’s 1-Nenokkadine (Mahesh Babu) had received tremendous hype. However, subsequently, the project was delayed, as Jr NTR wanted the script to be finalised. Sukumar and his team are working on the same. Therefore, Jr NTR agreed to act in Puri’s movie as his dates are free from July,” a source said.
Apparently, at least two reasons are attributed for the delay in the project. Firstly, 1-Nenokkadine failed to meet the expectations though the box-office collections were good. Consequently, Sukumar wants to tighten the script for his movie with Jr NTR. Secondly, Jr NTR too had apprehensions over the original script narrated by Sukumar. He wanted a few changes in the script. Jr NTR has been without a major hit in the last two years and he is in search of the elusive blockbuster.
Though the expectations from Joru are also high, Jr NTR is pinning hopes on Kummestha big time. He has involved himself even in the scripting and casting to ensure that the movie is a hit because the two are teaming up after a long gap of 10 years.
