A man trying to run across Colorado 9 near Silverthorne Saturday night was struck by a car and killed, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The man — who the Summit Daily News identified as Thomas Vigil, 27, of Northglenn — was hit just before midnight by a man driving a Pontiac Grand Am. The driver was not injured in the collision, the patrol said.

The name of the man killed will be officially released after notification of next of kin, according to the patrol. An investigation into the crash is ongoing, according to Cpl. Heather Cobler.
