Normal power supply to resume in Sahibabad
GHAZIABAD: Residents of the trans-Hindon housing societies in Sahibabad, who have been facing long outages for over 10 days, as the power supply was being diverted to Ghazipur substation, are expected to get some respite starting Friday.
Power corporation officials said the supply had to be diverted to Ghazipur as the underground Ghazipur-Badarpur transmission corridor had developed a cable fault in Noida area.
With the cable repaired on Thursday, officials said, the Ghazipur substation will now get full power supply through the transmission corridor and the city will no longer need to divert the 40MW electricity from the Sahibabad substation.
Officials of UP Power Transmission Corporation Limited, who oversee the maintenance of the transmission corridor, said there was a delay in fixing the cable lines because the UP Rajkiya Nirman Nigam Limited, which undertakes maintenance of the underground section of the corridor in Noida, was unable to procure necessary equipments from the market, in time.
"The cable joint has been fixed but it will be left for 24 hours so that it sets properly. We will allow electricity to flow through it only from Friday, after the mandatory rest period," said AP Singh, superintending engineer, UPPTCL.
