Authority fast-tracks two new bridges on Hindon in Greater Noida

GREATER NOIDA: The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has decided to speed up the project of two new bridges across the Hindon River, which will help boost connectivity between Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.
While the bridges are to be constructed by the Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation Limited, the cost of the projects, pegged at Rs 110 crore, will be shared by the Noida and Greater Noida authorities.
According to GNIDA officials, all formalities for the proposed projects have been completed, including seeking clearances from the UP irrigation department."Tenders for the projects have to be initiated," said H K Verma, additional CEO, GNIDA.
"The tenders to select the agency for construction will be floated by August and work will begin a couple of months from then," he said.
The Greater Noida and Noida authorities are currently putting into place road networks required for augmenting the proposed bridge projects.
For one of the proposed bridges, a new road is being constructed behind the Gautam Budh Balak Inter College in Dadri. This road will also connect to Maripat railway station, Badalpur, GT Road and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.
In addition to easing the traffic situation on Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and on the Dadri-Surajpur-Chalera (DSC) Road, the proposed bridges will also cut down on distance and travelling time between the three cities.
At present, three bridges are operational on Hindon River. One bridge is under construction, which will connect only the rural belts. Since several lakh additional people are predicted to populate the area by 2030, plans are afoot to decongest key roads in the cities.
