BARAMULLA, June 18: The Additional Regional Transport officer (ARTO) along with other officials on Wednesday conducted checking of vehicles in various areas of Baramulla district and recovered a fine of 40,000 rupees from the traffic violators, an official said.
A team led by ARTO Sopore Mukhtar Ahmad conducted checking of vehicles at Sopore, Sangrama, Khwaja Bagh, Chungi and Lalad in the district during which violators were fined while number of tapes and gas cylinders were seized.
“We had received complaints from locals that the drivers of passenger vehicles play loud music and also do overloading of passengers. Today we conducted checking and fined the violators while recovered 18 tapes and three gas cylinders,” Inspector Parves Ahmad said adding the 40,000 rupees were recovered as fine.
He said the checking of vehicles would continue in coming days and asked people particularly bikers to use helmets and avoid fast driving.
