Heather Watson enjoyed one her best wins as she beat sixth seeded Flavia Pennetta to reach the last eight in Eastbourne.
The 22-year-old Briton recovered from the loss of the opening set to clinch a 6-7 (8-6) 6-4 6-2 victory over the world No 12 Italian.
Watson, ranked 58 places lower than Pennetta, was on court for almost two hours as she set up a quarter-final against former Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova after the Czech beat Varvara Lepchenko 6-1 6-4.
The Guernsey player recovered well to overcome the disappointment of losing the opening set after failing to take advantage of a 4-1 lead in the tie-break.
After making the only break of serve of the second set in the opening game, she proceeded to take the first four games of the decider - and held on for a well-deserved triumph.
I just enjoyed it and I played well out there. I held my composure and I served well. She didn't make it easy for me to finish it off, but I'm pleased with how I played.
Disappointment
But there was disappointment for fellow Brit Johanna Konta who was sent-packing by Camila Giorgi, a day after the Italian took nearly three hours to upset former No 1 Victoria Azarenka.
The Australian-born Konta - who resides in Eastbourne - lost 1-6 7-5 7-5 after failing to convert a match point on her opponent’s serve in the 10th game of the final set.
Elsewhere, former No 1 and eighth seed Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark beat the dangerous American Sloane Stephens 6-3 6-3 for the sixth straight time.
A delighted Wozniacki said: "The grass really suits me. I like the fast ball and pace I get from my opponent's shots.
"I just enjoyed it and I played well out there. I held my composure and I served well. She didn't make it easy for me to finish it off but I'm pleased with how I played."
German fifth seed Angelique Kerber also made it through to the last eight, despite dropping a set to Alize Cornet and being pushed all the way in the decider before emerging a 7-5 1-6 7-6 (7-3) victor.
Ekaterina Makarova will be waiting for Kerber in the next round after progressing with a 6-3 6-3 win over fellow Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
American Lauren Davis beat experienced grass-courter Daniela Hantuchova 6-3 6-3 to set up an all-American meeting with Madison Keys. The 19-year-old came out on top against Elena Vesnina 7-5 7-6 (11-9).
