Indore: 'Ek Madhav Baug' was an eye-opener for many. The play, originally written in Marathi by Lt. Chetan Datar, was a heart-touching depiction of homosexuality and challenges LGBT community faces in the society. The 50-minute mono act by Mona Ambegaonkar at Jal auditorium in city held the audience spellbound. "I wish I had brought my parents along to watch the play.
I realized that we have to accept ourselves just the way we are and that no medicine can change us," Nitin Gaekwad, a 24-year-old homosexual from the city said.
"The play was presented from a mother's perspective who comes to know that her son is a homosexual through an anonymous phone call. When she confronts her son, he gives her a diary with all entries addressed to her," project 'Pehchan' advocacy officer Sonal Giani said.
"The play was very touching and it should get a bigger platform to spread the message at large scale," 31- year-old Radhika Modi said.
For 20-year-old Abhishek Jain, the most sensitive part of the play was when the mother realizes the feelings of her son only after he tries to end his life. "She realized that things would not have ended in a bad note had she understood her son earlier. These emotions were well exhibited during the play," Abhishek added.
Appreciating the script, 20-year-old chartered accountant Ayush Modi said, "The flawless acting and audio visual effects mesmerized over 200 audiences watching the play." The play organized by the Humsafar Trust in association with MP State AIDS Control Society was performed for 49{+t}{+h} time.
