HYDERABAD: Indian consumer goods company Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL), the maker of Cinthol soap and Hit insecticide, hopes to see its Protekt brand to reap in at least Rs 100 crore sales over the next three years with novel product launches.

GCPL chief operating officer Sunil Kataria unveiled Protekt range of products comprising a hand sanitizer, three handwashes and a skin spray mosquito repellent in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

He said the current Indian market for sunrise categories of handwashes, sanitizers and personal repellents was estimated at around Rs 600 crore, estimated to more than double over the next 3-4 years thanks to growing awareness towards personal sanitation and protection.

“We are eying at least 10% of the market share over next three years in this category which should help the Protekt brand emerge over Rs 100 crore-brand, an achievement in FMCG sector.”

Kataria said Godrej spent sizeable time and efforts through its in-house R&D to develop innovative hand sanitizer, handwashes and skin spray mosquito repellent that “smell great, look wonderful and be skin and environment friendly while keeping the consumer healthy.”

For the first time in the country, GCPL is going to market the Protekt brand products only through modern retail to scale up to general trade over the next six months.

Kataria said the consumer goods firm hopes that Protekt brand will change people’s perspective towards personal sanitation and protection category, helping the segment’s upward growth trend.
