Saira Banu is my angel: Vyjayanthimala Bali
In her recent visit to Mumbai, yesteryear actress-danseuse Vyjayanthimala Bali was a huge draw when many of her fans surrounded her for an autograph at Dilip Kumar’s autobiography launch.
The veteran actress, who had come for the event with her brother, was seen politely obliging. And she was quite open and frank in her speech on the legendary actor with who she has done many films.
“Out of the films I worked with Dilip, Ganga Jamuna remains the most special of all. For me being a South Indian and doing a Bhojpuri film, saying my dialogues in Awadhi was difficult but Dilip helped me with it. Till date, it is hard to believe that I spoke my own lines,” said Vyjayanthimala, who was quite amazed seeing Dilip Kumar's (known for his method acting), style of working.

She continued, “The first time I worked with him was in Devdas. And while I was ready with my lines – Devdas, tum itna mat piyo - and was waiting for him to enter the room, I was completely awe-stricken. It was a long wait and I kept waiting for him but then we found him running around the studio to get into the mood and character. He entered all trembling and sozzled. He brought the character alive.”
