Jambo Savaari Movie Review

Director KC Venugopal’s story isn’t unfamiliar to Sandalwood. But he has done a good job with the narration, holding the suspense till the end; a mass movie scoring fairly on entertainment. The first half is lively with Prajwal and two of his friends indulging in petty pick-pocketing. It’s only in the second half that the focus shifts to the much sought after idol, with the climax taking predicted lines.

The story begins on a comical note with Balu (Prajwal Devaraj), Pinki (Chaithra Rai) and Mithra duping gullible people. The romantic track opens when Balu steals Purvi’s (Nikki Galrani) brand new scooter. On being caught, Balu weaves a false story, introducing himself as an employee with a tech firm. The script takes a curious turn when a stolen Ganesha idol is placed in Purvi’s bag during an accident. The coveted golden idol happens to be the focal point of the story, with many people looking to make a fortune out of it. This includes rowdy Jackie (Shobhraj), who is facing 49 murder charges. Jackie is eyeing the idol because a minister has promised him that he’ll be freed of all charges if he manages to fetch it for the minister. The other person who wants the statue is Sethuram (Achyuth Kumar). He gets the idol from Balu for Rs 5 lakh and then sells it to two people from Africa. The story takes a whole new turn when Jackie kidnaps Purvi and asks Balu to the get idol for him.

Prajwal steals the show with a livewire performance. Glamorous Chaithra Rai has put life and soul into her character. Music by S Premkumar and camerawork by V Prathap bolster the script and performances.
