There’s no stopping Gloc-9.

After wins in this year’s MYX Music Awards and in the running for song of the year at the ongoing Yahoo Celebrity Awards for his song “Magda,” he has now emerged as the artist with the most nominations in the 27th Awit Awards.

The rapper received 12 nods in various categories, including album of the year for “Liham at Lihim,” song of the year for “Ang Parokya,” best music video and best rap recording.

His wins

Last year, he received five Awit nominations and eventually won in three major categories: album, song and music video for his work on the album “MKNM.”

More than any other nominee, his name appeared in 2013 in various categories: best world music recording for his contribution in Joey Ayala’s song “Papel” and in the best alternative rock/alternative recording category for the election song “Kunwari” which he performed with Kamikazee and Wolfgang’s Manuel Legarda.

Why he values awards

While he is thankful for the honor, Gloc-9 is candid enough to admit to the side benefits of receiving awards.

“Ang awards po ay nagpapalawak ng aking popularidad at sa ganon dumarami ang opportunities to do shows and guestings,” he said.

Band, roadies benefit too

Something else is making Gloc-9 happier these days.

Winning the battle vs. hair loss

He has won the battle with hair loss arising from a scalp problem known as alopecia.

Gloc-9’s “Magda” is nominated Song of the Year in this year's Yahoo Celebrity Awards, along with "Bakit Ngayon" by Julie Ann Santos, "Carousel" by Bamboo, "Chinito" by Yeng Constantino and "Hanggang Kailan Kita Mamahalin" by Angeline Quinto. Vote for your favorite here.
