SRINAGAR, June 13: Speaker, Legislative Assembly Mubarak Gul distributed cheques worth Rs 52.39 lakh among 413 registered construction labours of Srinagar city at a function organized by the Labour Department at Goripora, Pallpora in Eidgah Constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker said that the Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has taken several initiatives for the welfare of the workers and labourers. He said that Rs. 8.46 crore have been distributed among the registered construction workers by the Department of Labour and over 18000 construction labourers have been registered in district Srinagar so far.
Mr. Gul asked the workers to come forward and get their names registered with the Labour Department so that they can avail benefits of the welfare schemes launched by the Government for them.
Deputy Labour Commissioner, Srinagar, Ghulam Rasool Kumar, Assistant Labour Commissioner Gulzar Ahmed Khan, other senior officers besides a large number of workers and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
